Tea scientists recently identified a previously unknown species of tea genetically different from the familiar Camellia Sinensis. Discovered by serendipity by mushroom gatherers in southern Yunnan who brought some unusual appearing plants to their tea-farming colleagues who processed them as they would a typical Yunnan black tea (Dian Hong Cha). The result was a very different and quite pleasant flavor. This was officially named Camellia Taliensis. Sweet light body with a complex finish. We were very fortunate to acquire this tea on our recent buying trip to Yunnan.
